I camped mid winter, the longest night - shortest day of the year, the winter solstice - winter equinox, Matariki. Cooking beef steak and stir fry vegetables for dinner, bacon and eggs for breakfast and date scones on the gas camp cooker.

The Campsite: Broken Hills, Coromandel Forest Park.

The Broken Hills Campsite is located beside the Tairua River amongst native forest. This is a scenic campsite in the Coromandel region.
